Employer Questions
The Promise Car Club is an attractive proposition for businesses, as it offers a zero cost zero risk approach to staff motivation. Here you'll find answers to some of the most common questions employers ask us.
How much will it cost my business?
Unlike other staff affinity schemes, The Promise Car Club doesn't cost you anything. There are no set up costs, administration costs, maintenance cost or any internal HR or Wages costs. We take care of every aspect of the scheme, so there are no hidden administrative costs.
How long does it take to set up the scheme?
We can set up a scheme within a week. The biggest issue is making sure that your staff are aware of the scheme, and so we would work with you to help distribute the message within the business.
What involvement do we have in the scheme?
None at all. Once the scheme is set up, the business is not involved in the process at all. The Promise Car Club requires no internal resources from you.
How long are the Promise agreements?
Promise agreements run for a fixed period of 24 months to 36 months.
Is there a mileage allowance?
Yes. Monthly instalments are calculated based upon an anticipated mileage allowance. Members can choose from 10,000 to 20,000 miles a year.
Do we need to amend our Contract of Employment?
No. As the Promise agreement is between the staff member and us, there is no requirement for you to amend your conditions of employment.
Do you check credit worthiness of our staff?
Yes. When a member of staff orders a vehicle from us, we will check the credit worthiness of the staff member before we order a vehicle. In the event that the staff member fails our credit-check, we would decline to supply a vehicle.
Who collects monthly instalments from our staff?
Monthly instalments for vehicles are collected direct by The Promise Car Club. We will collect instalments through regular Direct Debits.
What happens if a member of staff fails to pay?
It is our responsibility to collect monthly instalments from our members. If a payment fails, it is entirely our responsibility to recover the debt.
How will Promise help us improve our environmental credentials?
If you currently allow drivers to drive their privately-owned vehicles on company business and then claim expenses, then the mileage carried out on these vehicles forms part of your overall carbon footprint. The Promise Car Club can help reduce the age of the private fleet, and so reduce the CO2 emissions from this 'grey' fleet. The Promise scheme will naturally reduce the age of these vehicles, and as engine technologies improve, so CO2 emissions will be reduced.
How can Promise help us with Duty of Care?
The 'grey' fleet is generally regarded as the most troublesome part of the company fleet. The grey fleet encompasses any vehicle that is used on company business that is not owned by the company i.e. staff owned cars. It is often difficult to ensure that these vehicles are fit for purpose, that they have been serviced properly and are taxed. Because The Promise Car Club is a fully managed service, you can be a lot more confident that staff-owned cars are properly maintained.
